As the midnight sun streams across the city buildings, creating long and stark shadows, Franz watches with dull eyes as the stars twinkle in the slices of the sky visible from the café front.
Her eyes dart around, looking through the crowd on the street. She’s been here for a couple of hours already, and her patience is wearing thin. The instant familiar head of grey spiky hair comes into her view, she immediately sits up. A grin breaks out across her face.
“Eleanor, it’s so nice to meet you,” Franz says after a quick hug, sitting down in her chair at the same time that Eleanor does.
“Likewise,” Eleanor responds, nodding her head slightly. “Before you get on with what you want to talk about, can I order a coffee first?”
Franz smiles with tight lips. “Sure.”
